Tractor Mac Author and Illustrator Billy Steers to visit the Gran-Val Scoop on May 23rd for a book signing.
Billy Steers, creator of the popular children's book series Tractor Mac, will be at the Gran-Val Scoop, located at 233 Granby Rd, Route 189, in Granville on Sunday, May 23rd from 1-4 pm for a book signing of his popular children’s book series Tractor Mac.
With seven titles now in the series, the books have sold over 100,000 copies. The books were inspired by bedtime stories Steers created for his sons when they were young, which told of the adventures of their red toy tractor. Characterized by brightly colored, detailed illustrations and absorbing stories that are ideal for young readers preschool to age 7, the Tractor Mac books now include a dynamic cast of characters: Tractor Mac, Sibley, the work horse; Farmer Bill; Sam, the ram; Fetch, the dog; Walter, the goat; Margot, the cow; and Plane Jane, the plane. Books in the series include Tractor Mac Arrives at the Farm, Tractor Mac Learns to Fly, Tractor Mac You're a Winner, Tractor Mac Builds a Barn, Tractor Mac Harvest Time and Tractor Mac Saves Christmas, and Tractor Mac Parade's Best.
Mr. Steers, who grew up on a farm in Roxbury, Connecticut and has been a self-described "chronic doodler" since childhood, is now a commercial pilot with American Airlines. He studied geography and cartography at the University of Utah and was a cartoonist for the school newspaper. After serving as a pilot in the United States Air Force, Mr. Steers apprenticed with a well-known children's book author and illustrator, where he contributed to more than 40 titles before he published his first Tractor Mac book with Golden Books. He has since taken over publishing his own books in Roxbury, where he lives with his wife and three sons.
